How long is the Race for the Cure?
Race for the Cure offers a 5K (3.1 miles) competitive run (timed), a 5K recreational run, a 5K walk, and a 1 mile family fun walk.
What is the Race route?
Start: Shawan Road east of McCormick Road towards York Road (all events start at this point, both the 1 mile and 5k run/walk)(1 Mile ends @ Schilling and McCormick Roads)

What time do I need to be there for the Race?
The Race Village opens at 7 a.m. Arrive early for the closest parking and to register the morning of the Race. (See below for additional information on parking).

What is the registration fee?
$40.00 before Race day
$50.00 on Race day
$10.00 Kids for the Cure (Ages 11 and under)
$15.00 Kids for the Cure on Race day (Ages 11 and under)
$45.00 chip timed runners (not available on Race Day)
*Registration fee includes a cotton short-sleeved Race t-shirt and bib. You must be registered to participate in the Race.
What are the registration deadlines?
Mail in: Monday, October 17, 2016 (teams and individuals).
Online registration stays open until 11 a.m. on October 22, 2016
Are Race bibs and t-shirts being mailed?
Race bibs and t-shirts will not be mailed. Please plan to pick-up your Race packet at walk-up registration or on Race day.

Does everyone who participates (walks/runs) in the Race need to be registered?
Yes. To be on the Race course, whether a walker or runner, you must be a registered participant with a Race bib attached to your shirt. This includes children. Children 11 and under can register for the Race for $10 prior to Race Day or $15 on Race Day.

Where can I pick up my Race t-shirt?
See details about Walk-Up Registration, above. NOTE: Race t-shirts will not be shipped and must be picked up at walk-up registration or at the registration tent on Race morning.
Can I bring my dog to the Race?
For safety reasons (both the participants and your dogs) we ask that you not bring your dog to the Race.
Can I bring a stroller?
Strollers are permitted in the 1 Mile Family Fun Walk only.
Do children have to register for the Race?
For safety and liability reasons, all people participating in the Race should be registered. Children register for Kids for the Cure® for $10 before Race Day and for $15 on Race Day.
Parking / Street Closure / MTA Info
Where can I Park?
Hunt Valley Towne Centre, North Park Business Park, Ashland and York Roads parking lot, Wight Avenue parking lots, Lakefront parking lots on Beaver Dam Road, Sam’s Club and Lowe’s on Deereco Road and the Timonium Fairgrounds park and ride.
Shuttle bus service will be provided from Lakefront Business Park, Sam’s Club and Lowe’s on Deereco Road, Timonium/Deereco park and ride and North Park Business Park.
Where is a Hotel near the Race Site?
Komen Maryland works to partner with hotels near the Race site to offer discounts to Race participants. More information can be found here: Hotel Information
Where is Handicapped Parking?
Handicapped parking is available with a state-issued plate or hang-tag in the designated spaces in all utilized parking lots. It is also available in the parking lot on Shawan Road between Executive Plaza and the Hunt Valley Inn. This lot can only be accessed by 83 North exiting East on Shawan Road.
How do I get free MTA Day Passes?
If you’re planning on using the Light Rail, we do have a limited number of wristbands available at our walk-up registration site (see above) that will allow you to ride for free on Race day.
On Race morning, trains leave the Cromwell Station/Glen Burnie Stop at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00 and 6:30 AM and drop off at the McCormick Stop. Travel time from Cromwell/Glen Burnie Stop to the McCormick stop is approximately 1 hour. After the Race, trains begin departing the Hunt Valley Stop beginning at 10:30 am with trains departing every 15 minutes.
Where do Buses Park?
Buses will park in any of the parking lots being utilized and will be directed into lots.
What time will the streets start to close?
Roads closest to the Race begin closing at 6:00 a.m.
6:00 a.m.: Shawan Road (Eastbound between McCormick Road and York Road), McCormick Road (between Shawan Road and Beaver Dam Road), Gilroy Road *between Beaver Dam Road and Schilling Circle), Schilling Road (Between Pepper Road and McCormick Road).
7:30 a.m.: York Road (Southbound at Shawan Road), Beaver Dam Road (Eastbound at Ivy Hill Road).
7:45 a.m.: York Road (Northbound between Ashland Road and Shawan Road), Warren Road (Westbound at York Road).
Where do I get a donation form?
Donation forms are available on the Race website or can be picked up at our walk-up Race Registration. Donations can also be made online at https://race.komenmd.org/donate/

Cash donations can only be turned in at walk-up registration prior to Race day or to the donation tent on Race day.
Checks can also be turned in at walk up registration prior to Race day or at the donation tent on Race day.
When are the donation prizes given out?
Individual donation prizes are given out on Race day. Please see the donation form for donation and prize levels.
If I don’t participate in the event, what happens to the money I have raised?
All donations to the Race are non-transferable and non-refundable. If you are unable to participate in the event, your donations will go directly to the cause as if you had participated. We trust your donors will appreciate supporting Susan G. Komen® Maryland regardless of your participation on Race day.
When does registration end?
Participants can register online until 11 a.m. on October 22nd. Also see walk-up registration times and dates above. Race registration is also available on Race morning beginning at 7:00 am.
Can I register more than one person at a walk-up registration site?
Yes, bring payment and signed registration form for as many as you would like to our walk-up registration site.
What is Sleep in for the Cure?
If for any reason you can’t make the Race, you can still move us #OneStepCloser to a world free of breast cancer by signing up for Sleep In for the Cure. You can pick up your Race t-shirt and Race bib at walk-up registration (see details above). You can join a team and fundraise as if you were at the Race. If you fundraise, you will be eligible for fundraising rewards. Sleep in for the Cure is generously sponsored by Padonia Park Club.
How do I sign up to volunteer?
Please click here to enter your name, email and select a volunteer position. You will be contacted approximately 2 weeks prior to the date of the assignment you selected to verify your participation. If you do not have access to a computer, please give us your name and address and we will mail a volunteer application to you.
